The S-73-3L bi-directional latching solenoid uses permanent-magnet holding force to retain the plunger at either end of travel after a brief electrical pulse. Because continuous coil power is not required while latched, it is suitable for applications where power consumption and heat generation must be minimized. A pulse to the appropriate coil—or a polarity reversal when the coils are connected for that operating method—moves and latches the plunger in the opposite direction.
